An Open Letter to Dave Ramsey

Dear Sir,

The problem with emergency funds is that you then have emergencies.

Sincerely,
Chaos

Taxes, sheesh. When do we get to save up for the real emergencies?

You mean they don't automatically replenish themselves? I wouldn't know, I've never had one. (emergency fund, not emergency)

Man, do I know that feeling. $600 in car repair last month, $400 this month. Same car! Plus $364 to Kansas for taxes. $100 to the vet. UGH!

Chaos,
I know that you have a much different tax situation than I, but when you know tax time comes around the same time every year can you call it an emergency?

Also, what is the deal. I thought you guys considered April 15 the day you filed for the extension.

whether or not it is considered an "emergency," NB, if that is the only fund with money in it, an emergency it becomes.

Besides, we prepaid all the taxes we paid last year (and got back). Who knew it would be a banner year for house chaos? (We ended up nearly in the black, dude, for the first time in, like, ever. But freakanomics of 2009 declare that no one is allowed to actually MAKE money without giving it all away.)

I KNOW! Can you believe it?! SIX different taxes to file and my man got them all in on or before APRIL 15.
