Amish Love

What’s all the hubbub about Amish fiction? Major media outlets like Time and ABC Nightline are covering it, and authors like Cindy Woodsmall are making the New York Times bestseller list regularly. What makes these books so interesting?

I think that the reason the books are so popular is the the Amish culture is so foreign & exotic to those who aren't a part of it. We have a large Amish & Mennonite population around here, and still those books are popular with the non-Amish/Mennonite crowd.

It's so funny you would post this, because on Saturday I took the girls to the library. While they searched for kid's books, I wandered over to the "new release" section. I picked up a book called "Rachel's Secret" by BJ Hoff. I kind of shrugged and thought "ok, I'll give it a try."

I think the draw for me was that it's a romance, but I knew it would be clean.
